The obit that I read for this assignment appeared in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal. Erna Eckerle served her community in many ways including volunteering. Her assistant included but was not limited groups such as the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, the Boys and Girls Club of Milwaukee and the Marquette University Women’s Council. Erna was a model citizen and truly lived a life of service.
The obit has many good qualities to it including a great lead and a story of her life that builds from it. However, I feel like I don’t know her as much as I would like. You are taken through her life of philanthropy but not much further. Maybe that was her life and the extent of it, but it seems like a women with that much time would have more to her.
Still, when you look at it as a whole, the obit has the main themes it needs such as time of death and place, funeral arrangements and an incite into who she was. Not a perfect example but definitely something that would make her family happy.
