Reporting Assignment 4/6

Quote of the Day

“ I think it is EXPLETIVE ridiculous to get an eleven dollar ticket on a 25 cent meter.”
- Angelee Hammond, program assistant Department of Political Science

Observational Assignment

Location
- In Polk Library by the reference section next to the window looking directly across at Albee Hall, sitting in the third desk from the front of the row that line the window.

Observations
- As I look out the window the first thing I see is a girl in a grey mismatched sweatshirt with red puma shoes sitting on a bench in front of the entrance to Polk talking on a cell phone.
- I see people coming on going some walking together, some at a distance. Most are on there way separately.
- One-student stops in front of the window to put a folder in her backpack. She sets her backpack on the cement wall in front of the landscaping around the front of the library. A friend waits as she fidgets with the arrangement of the books in her backpack and laughs as they start to walk again toward Reeve Union.
- Walking past toward Reeve was my sophomore Biology 105 professor Bob Wise, speaking to someone.
- People’s pace is unbelievably varied. From fast to slow, carefree to stressed body expressions.
- A man in an electric wheelchair races past the window alarmingly close to the Albee, he seems to be moving extremely fast.
- Looking out the window you see that the landscaping around Polk is less than desirable.
- A staple with all most all of the walkers is a backpack. The most common is the classic double shoulder strapped backpack.
- Since it is lunchtime a high number of people have drinks, bottles of soda (diet Pepsi) or coffee in their hands. Almost all are coming from the direction of Reeve.
- Not one person exits the rear doors of Albee during my observation.
