1. I did my sports report on the Baylor Women's Basketball Team who won the NCAA Women's tournament Tuesday night. One reason I liked the report was the lead. The reporter used the first paragraph to set the scene of the last few minutes of the game. I like this approach because it puts you in the place of a fan/player or viewer who was involved in the game.
2. Many sports stories are long and filled with statistics that can be very confusing and easily forgotten. This article was filled with more quotes and used exciting language to keep the reader interested.I can tell the reporter had a lot of fun and was very interested in writing this article.
3. The author did a great job identifing the underdog, Baylor, in the story. This is Baylor first national title and the reporter used a David vs. Goliath approach. She gave credit to both teams making it to the championship game, but set Baylor up as a "cinderella story" The article was a little cliched, but very well written. It made me feel happy that the underdog prevailed and it felt like I was following their success all season long.
