Juiceboxxx, the 18-year-old rapper from Mequon, performed an emotional and enthusiastic set in front of a small crowd at the local music fest outside of Reeve Memorial Union Friday.
This was the first time Juiceboxxx has ever played outside he said and thought it sounded great.
During the show Juiceboxxx jumped on and off of the stage, threw himself on the floor, climbed on to the speakers and went crowd surfing into the audience.
The rapper said his energy and enthusiasm comes from “caffeine and positivity.”
Juiceboxxx wore thick-framed glasses as he performed and wore a t-shirt with a unicorn, roses and lightning on it, which he removed during his third song revealing his tiny frame.
Juiceboxxx is tall and lanky and doesn’t fit any description of a rap artist.
He was interactive with the audience getting them to participate in the show and dedicated his second song to his friends who have helped him out.
“This track goes out to anyone who has ever given me a ride to a show,” he said. “I don’t have a drive license.”
During his second song Juiceboxxx’s CD kept skipping, which he took audience harassment for. However, as quick as the audience could dish it out Juiceboxxx threw it back at them.
The rapper performed one encore song after the audience chanted his name when he left stage.
After his set he sat in the shade and sold CD’s and spoke with people who saw the show.
The general reaction to the show was favorable from the audience.
“He’s phat as hell,” WRST’s Music Director Jodi Root said. “I’ve seen a lot of white boys rap and he can really bust a move.”
Reeve union board at first was hesitant about getting the Mequon rapper to come to the show. They didn’t know how the audience would respond to a skinny white rapper.
However, at least one member of RUB said he was happy about the reaction to his performance.
“People were stun by it,” Nick Gumm a RUB member said. “I don’t think people respect him for what he does. He can rap and rhyme like anyone but people find his ora strange”
