observations & quote

I sat a picnic table in the center square between Radford and Clow and observed quite a few people in 15 minutes.

A woman sauntered by wearing a blue zip-up sweatshirt, jeans and white tennis shoes. She was talking on her small, black cell phone (I heard her say "...and then Jeff told me that she had already gone out with Chris and I was like, what the hell!") and swinging her free right hand at her side.

Another female walked by on her way to Clow, wearing black sandals and pink toe nail polish on. She was wearing gray sweatpants, a black hooded sweatshirt and a blue backpack strapped on both shoulders. She had her arms crossed in front of her chest and had a black "bear-claw" clip holding up her shoulder length brown hair.

An Asia man wearing a green suit coat paced the sidewalk in front of me with his hands clasped behind his back. He paced for 8 minutes and never once looked at me. He had his head down and was staring at his brown leather shoes as he paced. After about 5 minutes of pacing he stopped to kick at a wad of gum on the sidewalk, lifted his shoulders in a shrug and resumed pacing. He was also wearing a button up white dress shirt, a maroon tie, a tan and black scarf, green "slacks" and dark sunglasses.

A white male student in his 20's watched me watching him, he nodded his head in my direction and said "Hola!" as he passed. He was wearing a khaki colored baseball hat with the letters "SF" printed on it in white script. He also had on a gray hooded sweatshirt, (though the hood was flipped inside out) jeans, blue tennis shoes and a black backpack with red strings hanging from two of the zippers. He had his hands hidden in the sleeves of his sweatshirt and his arms at his sides near the pocket of his jeans.

Shortly after, man with black hair sprayed hair walked a few feet in front of me, talking on his cell phone. I heard him say "...mmmhmm well...yea I know but what is the professor gonna do?" he was wearing a red and white striped long sleeve shirt with a puffy black vest zipped over his shirt. He was wearing a brown backpack on both shoulders and had brown loafers and dark blue jeans. He held his cell phone with his left hand and his right hand was holding the right strap of his backpack.

A woman wearing a pink knee-length jacket (with 3 pink buttons) walked up the stairs to enter Radford. She was also wearing jeans, brown sandals and a gold ring on the middle finger of her right hand. She had a maroon satchel over her right shoulder and used her left hand to hold the railing as she walked up the steps, placing her left foot first.

A man waiting to cross the street had shoulder length blond hair tied with a black ponytail holder. He was holding a lit cigarette in his right hand and was wearing a brown, white and gray striped stocking hat along with a blue wind jacket with a logo of a white sailboat on the back. He was wearing faded jeans and red and white sneakers. He took a drag of his cigarette as he reached behind him with his left hand to pat what I assume was a wallet in the left back pocket. (He looked both ways before crossing High Ave.)

Finally I watched an African American man walk toward Radford, he stopped suddenly and slapped his forehead with his left hand, muttered something. He then turned and started back in the direction of the door he had just exited. He was wearing a blue plaid long sleeve shirt, with khaki cargo pants and shiny, black shoes. He had glasses and short dark hair and had an orange and black satchel over his left shoulder. His left hand rested on top of the back and his right hand held a key ring with a large blue key chain and at least four keys.

"If tuition could be lowered even by a fraction, I think we'd have more people wanting to go to college. Actually, I think there would be students busting down the door to pay tuition." -Laura Malcore

Laura has brown hair, which she pulled into a small ponytail with a rubber band. She was wearing a baby blue "UW Oshkosh" hooded sweatshirt and dark blue pajama pants with two white stripes down each leg. She had on white socks and blue Adidas sandals and was carrying a hard covered textbook with a photo of a young girl (barefoot, wearing blue shorts and a red t-shirt) on a bicycle on the front cover.
